Over the last five weeks, as a church, we have been engaged in a pulpit and prayer meeting series entitled Amazing Disciples: Powerful Keys for Personal Evangelism. The preaching and study material used during this time was developed by the Amazing Facts Center for Evangelism. The emphasis on personal evangelism—the main priority of the local church—was to prepare us for Sabbath, October 11, and the launch of our public proclamation evangelistic series entitled New Beginnings.
The New Beginnings series will run for three weeks during the month of October (11–31) on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, with double-header meetings on Sabbaths (AM and PM). It will continue Sabbath mornings and evenings throughout the month of November. The speakers for this series are twelve enthusiastic and prepared elders, along with three pastors. The pastoral and elders’ team has been discussing, praying, and preparing for this series since February 2025. The name New Beginnings is especially fitting because we believe that anyone who begins a relationship with Jesus experiences a new beginning. The apostle Paul affirms this truth when he writes: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
This past Wednesday, we were reminded that we must follow Christ’s method of disarming opponents and reaching hearts—with love and kindness. We are encouraged by the counsel: “Your success will not depend so much upon your knowledge and accomplishments, as upon your ability to find your way to the heart” (Gospel Workers, p. 193).
New Beginnings is not only a series for unbelievers who need to know Jesus Christ but also a series that will challenge the Willowdale Seventh-day Adventist Church to become the “Fishing Headquarters” and “Life-Saving Stations” that God intends us to be. Your prayers, presence, and participation are essential for New Beginnings to be a success.
