The attached prayer guide, “Diwali: Festival of Light, Five Days of Prayer for My Hindu and Sikh Neighbors”, sponsored by the General Conference Global Mission Center for South Asian Religions (CSAR) and the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada (SDACC), was developed to help our leaders and members pray for and witness to their Hindu and Sikh neighbours during Diwali.
Sikhs only pray to the “True God”, the God who created the heavens and the earth. Over the entrance way to their Gurdwara, the place where Sikhs come together for congregational worship, is the Old Testament text, “The Lord our God one God”.
Diwali starts November 2nd this year and that can vary by a day depending on where in India people are from.
